Jason Bateman (the “Horrible Bosses” films, “Arrested Development,” “Ozark”) and Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams (“Spotlight,” “Dr. Strange”) team up in New Line Cinema’s action comedy “Game Night.”
Bateman and McAdams star as Max and Annie, whose weekly couples game night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s charismatic brother, Brooks, arranges a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. So, when Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game…right? But as the six uber-competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this “game”—nor Brooks—are what they seem to be.
Over the course of one chaotic night, the friends find themselves increasingly in over their heads as each twist leads to another unexpected turn. With no rules, no points, and no idea who all the players are, this could turn out to be the most fun they’ve ever had…or, it’s game over.

We are getting closer to the release of “Game Night” so it seems the promotion is getting on it’s way. Today, IGN exclusively released a new production still which features Rachel and costar Jason Bateman with costars Lamorne Morris, Billy Magnussen, and Kylie Bunbury in the background. The movie will be released on February 23, 2018 in the USA and Warner Bros UK recently moved the release forward for the UK towards March 2, 2018 (previously May 4, 2018).
In the New Line comedy Game Night, Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams star as a couple whose weekly game night with their friends goes horribly wrong when the fun murder mystery game they think they’re playing turns into a very real kidnapping. Jesse Plemons, Kyle Chandler, Lamorne Morris, Billy Magnussen, Kylie Bunbury and Sharon Horgan also star in the film, and we’ve got a first look photo of the main cast.
The film’s directing team of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein made their feature-debut as helmers with the 2015 Vacation remake, but they got their start as writers, having also worked on films like Horrible Bosses (1 and 2, also featuring Bateman), Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and most recently, Spider-Man: Homecoming. But in the case of Game Night, the pair recently told IGN that one of the biggest challenges was striking the right tone between the comedy and thriller aspects of the film.
The 41st Annual Göteborg Film Festival unveiled it’s lineup earlier this week and “Disobedience” is part of it’s lineup. The movie will make it’s European premiere during the festival and it’s part of their International Competition selection. The festival runs from January 26 to February 5.
Disobedience (International Competition)
Sebastián Lelio | 114min | United States, United Kingdom, Ireland
Year: 2017 | Language: English | EUROPEAN PREMIERE
Sparks fly from Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams in Sebastián Lelio’s (Gloria) charged drama about a New York photographer forced to return to her Orthodox Jewish home.
When Ronit’s father, a rabbi, dies, she heads off to London and the districts, the family and the friends she once left behind. Back home are the old best-friends Dovid and Esti, now married to each other. While Dovid prepares to assume leadership of the congregation, the deeply religious Esti and the black sheep Ronit find their way back to a forbidden flame, which might destroy everything. Disobedience is not just a film about religion and its tight reins, but above all a wonderfully humanistic story about empathy, understanding, forgiveness and about discovering and fighting for what you really believe in. And about freedom being a gift that entails loss.
First of all: We want to wish everyone a happy new year! It’s a new year and time for our annual a look ahead with an overview of what you can expect in 2018 from Rachel’s career. We have an exciting year ahead of us with at least two movies getting released in theaters. You can find our overview below/after the jump.
Rachel’s feature film debut “The Hot Chick” celebrated it’s 15 year anniversary earlier this month. The movie was released on December 13, 2002 in the United States. Rachel costarred alongside Rob Schneider, Anna Faris, Matthew Lawrence, Eric Christian Olsen and more. To promote the movie, the cast was featured in Seventeen Magazine’s January 2003 issue. Rachel told Seventeen: “We were a pretty tight-knit group. If we had to work through the night, we’d stay on the set and watch the sun come up together.”
The movie seem to have special place in Rachel’s heart to this date. She told Vogue in 2009: “My first film in the U.S. and a huge milestone in my life.” While promoting “Spotlight“, Rachel told People Magazine she credits the movie and Rob Schneider for her career: “I was testing for a pilot to play Nancy Drew, and I didn’t get it. I went to another audition, but I was so devastated that I wasn’t even concentrating. I got the other role instead. It was The Hot Chick, and I switched bodies with Rob Schneider. I really have to thank Rob Schneider!”. Switching bodies with Schneider was “one of the hardest jobs I’ve had to date”. She echoed in 2014 to Allure Magazine: “It was probably one of the scariest moments I’ve had in my career. It stretched me in ways I could never have imagined.” She recalls, “I remember standing backstage, dressed like a mechanic. I had a pink bikini on underneath, grease on my face, and I just remember breathing deep and thinking. Oh. my God, I have to go out there and do this striptease, as a man…as a woman. How did I get here?”
