Some people take game night a little too far.
Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams find themselves fighting to save a friend’s life in the upcoming dark comedy Game Night — and PEOPLE has the exclusive first look.
In the film, the pair star as Max and Annie, whose weekly couples game night takes a turn when they divert from their standard Pictionary and charades to play a game of murder mystery — complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. But when someone goes missing, the group must determine if it’s part of the game, or real life.
“In the game, somebody does get kidnapped and what we realize later is that’s it’s actually a real kidnapping by coincidence. It happens on the same night,” Bateman tells PEOPLE. “So there’s some overlap in there in wondering what’s real and what’s part of the game, which lends itself to a little bit of action, some nighttime intrigue, thriller stuff. And of course, you’ve got the comedy all the way through.”
Kyle Chandler, Billy Magnussen, Sharon Horgan, Lamorne Morris and Jesse Plemons also star in the film, which comes from Vacation directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
Game Night hits theaters March 2, 2018.

On Tuesday it as October 3rd which has been referred to as #MeanGirlsDay because of one of the jokes in the movie (this one to be exact). “Mean Girls” has been a fan favorite movie and part of the cast reunited this year to ask the fans of the movie to consider donating to Mean Girls for Las Vegas. A Go Fund Me page has been set up and all funds raised will be distributed to the victims of Las Vegas. Rachel is not part of the videos uploaded on the page (thus far), but we wanted to highlight this initiative because we think it’s a great way of the cast to reunite and give back. For more information, be sure to head over to GoFunMe.com/october3!
The cast of Mean Girls is teaming up this October 3rd to do some good. We’re asking for just $3 to hit a $300,000 goal. We are working directly with the National Compassion Fund, a program in the National Center for Victims of Crime. This organization collected and distributed funds to victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, the Aurora shooting, and even 9/11.
100% of funds raised will be distributed to the victims of Las Vegas through the NCF at the completion of this campaign. Do something grool today. Let’s hit this goal together. We might not make fetch happen, but we can make this happen.

Screen Daily is reporting that Bleecker Street has acquired the rights for “Disobedience” in the US and looks like they will be aiming for a release in 2018. The movie premiered earlier this month during the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival with rave reviews for Rachel’s performance. Bleecker Street has acquired US rights to Sebastian Lelio’s Disobedience, the drama starring Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola that premiered in Toronto.
Lelio’s English-language debut centres on a Jewish community in north London as a New York-based photographer returns for her father’s funeral and rekindles a friendship with another woman.
Lelio wrote the screenplay with Rebecca Lenkiewicz. Frida Torresblanco produced for Braven Films, Ed Guiney for Element Pictures, and Rachel Weisz for LC6 Productions. Film4 developed the film and co-financed with the film’s internationals sales agent FilmNation.
“Sebastian has captured, with real authenticity, the universality of love and faith, and the strength and sacrifice it takes to fight for what you believe in,” Bleecker Street CEO Andrew Karpen said. “We’re excited to bring Rachel Weisz’s, Rachel McAdams’ and Alessandro Nivola’s powerful and honest performances to audiences across the country next year.”
