Canada’s Walk of Fame has announced this year’s inductees and Rachel is among them. The induction gala will be held October 18 in Toronto and will be broadcast as a two-hour special on Global and Slice on December 19. Actor Ryan Reynolds, Rachel McAdams and The Band and are among the inductees announced Tuesday for Canada’s Walk of Fame.
They will be honoured next month along with hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser, former UN high commissioner for human rights Louise Arbour, and the late musician Jeff Healey.
“Each have impacted Canada’s social and cultural heritage across the country and around the world,” said Melanie Hurley, CEO of Canada’s Walk of Fame, in a release.
“They are inspiring and remind us that anything can be achieved with hard work, dedication, passion and integrity. They are ambassadors of Canada and instill pride in our country.”
McAdams, 35, was born in London, Ont. and currently lives in Toronto. Her credits include made-in-Toronto films Mean Girls, The Time Traveler’s Wife and The Vow as well as The Notebook, Midnight in Paris and Sherlock Holmes.
She will be shooting Spotlight in Toronto from early October to mid-November.

Over 50,000 nominations were received from 150 countries, according to organizers.
Canada’s Walk of Fame, founded in 1998, honours people who have excelled in music, film, television, literature, visual and performing arts, science and innovation and sports.
They must have been born in Canada or spent their formative years in the country; have a minimum of 10 years of experience in their field; and have had a national or international impact.
Past recipients include singer Celine Dion, actor Jim Carrey, rock band Guess Who, filmmaker David Cronenberg and supermodel Linda Evangelista.
